Robbi’s Trek for Jenny’s Place – 103km Through Japan for a Cause That Matters
We’re so proud to share that our very own Robbi Maddison has just completed something pretty incredible.
In May, Robbi travelled to Japan to take on the famous Kumano Kodo Trail – an ancient pilgrimage walk through rugged mountains, quiet forests, and centuries-old shrines. But this wasn’t just any hike – this was part of a mission to raise funds and awareness for Jenny’s Place, a Newcastle-based organisation helping women and children escape domestic violence and homelessness.
And what a mission it was.
Over 6 days, Robbi and a group of 13 amazing women (plus 3 experienced guides) tackled steep inclines and knee-jarring descents, covering 103km, climbing over 4,000 metres in elevation, and clocking up more than 153,000 steps.
“Our bodies were tired, but our hearts were FULL.”
Over $100,000 Raised
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, friends, family and supporters, the trek team raised over $100,000 for Jenny’s Place. That money will go directly toward helping families in the Hunter region rebuild their lives in safety.
“I reflected on my life during this trek and feel truly blessed – my beautiful families at home and at work, my body for getting me through it, and my amazing husband who loves and supports me,” said Robbi.
“We laughed, cried and bonded from day one. Domestic violence is out of control in Australia – we’ve already lost 31 women this year. This was our way of doing something to help.”
A Huge Thank You
Robbi would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, followed along, and cheered her on – and a special shoutout to the sponsors who made this possible:

What’s Next?
Robbi’s back home now (with a few well-earned blisters), but her message is clear – we all have a role to play in supporting those affected by domestic violence. This trek may be over, but the work of Jenny’s Place continues every day.
